Water changes.
See it when it happens.

A lab sample tells you what happened at one moment. BactoSense ID makes it easier to follow what happens between samples.

Detect changes in bacteria levels, check how well treatment is working and get a better basis for operational decisions. Direct cell counting gives measurable concentrations you can track over time.

A complement to regulatory laboratory testing.

BACTOSENSE ID · WHAT DO YOU WANT TO TRACK?

Specific indicators. Targeted monitoring.

COLIFORMS

Follow the trend.
Spot the change.

Automated, specific counting of coliforms shows how microbiological water quality develops. Use the data to follow trends and investigate deviations.

02 · THE TECHNOLOGY IN ID

One cell at a time.
Fully automated.

Industrial flow cytometry combined with enzymatic labelling of the target cells. Sampling and analysis run automatically.

01

The water is sampled

Measure automatically from the water stream or insert a manual sample. The schedule is set to suit your operation and the cartridge.

02

Target cells are labelled

Specific enzymes inside the target cells activate the reagents and make the bacteria measurable. Reagents come in ready-to-use cartridges.

03

Each cell is counted

Flow cytometry counts the cells one by one. Results can be viewed locally and integrated into existing control systems.

03 · A COMPLEMENTARY INSTRUMENT

BactoSense CORE

Follow your drinking water.
Spot changes early.

Automated flow cytometry gives continuous insight into microbiological changes in drinking water. Follow the water from the raw water source, through treatment and out into the distribution network.

A broader picture
Measure total cell count (TCC), intact cells (ICC) or active cells (ACC), depending on the cartridge.
Automated, day to day
From sampling to result without manual steps. An analysis takes from 20 minutes, and automatic measurements can be scheduled from every 30 minutes to every 6 hours.
Screen and control system
View results on the touchscreen and connect measurements to your control system via Modbus TCP, among other interfaces.

BACTOSENSE CORE

The microbiological picture.

Follow cell counts and changes in drinking water over time. CORE does not provide specific counts of coliforms or enterococci.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between ID and CORE?

ID counts specific bacterial groups, such as coliforms and enterococci. CORE tracks cell counts and microbiological changes in drinking water, using a TCC, ICC or ACC cartridge. The choice depends on what you want to measure and where in the plant you need insight.

Does this replace regulatory testing?

No. BactoSense ID and CORE complement laboratory testing and provide continuous operational information. Required analyses and reporting must still be carried out according to applicable requirements.

Can BactoSense ID measure E. coli?

bNovate states that E. coli measurement is coming. Contact us for status before ordering.

How does the method differ from culturing?

The instrument counts labelled cells using flow cytometry. It does not depend on cells multiplying in a culture. Results are given as cell concentration and should be interpreted with the method and application in mind.

Can ID and CORE connect to our control system?

BactoSense ID and CORE offer Ethernet, Modbus TCP, and analogue and digital outputs, among other interfaces. BactoCloud and BactoLink are optional solutions for remote access. We can help you assess the integration.

How much maintenance does the instrument need?

Reagents come in ready-to-use cartridges. The ID and CORE data sheets specify preventive maintenance after 3 cartridges, and at least once a year. Capacity and shelf life depend on the cartridge.
